SEKISUI 化学 CO.有限公司 (President and Representative Director: Keita Kato, hereinafter SEKISUI 化学) established new targets in October 2022 for reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in 2030. 2023年3月, these targets were re-approved by the SBT (Scientifically-Based Target) initiative for the efforts to limit global temperature rise to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels.

*The SBT is a partnership between CDP, the United Nations 全球 Compact, World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). Science-based targets show companies how much and how quickly they need to reduce their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions to prevent the worst effects of climate change. Targets are considered ‘science-based’ if they are in line with what the latest climate science deems necessary to meet the goals of the Paris Agreement – limiting global warming to well-below (WB) 2°C above pre-industrial levels and pursuing efforts to limit warming to 1.5°C.

   SEKISUI 化学 Group recognizes that climate change is not only a major social issue, but also a major 业务 risk for our group, and is actively contributing to minimize the issues. In 2018, our original targets were validated by SBT, the first in the chemical sector. 2022年10月, we set new targets for reducing GHG emissions as climate-change measures become an even more urgent social issue.
